Event 1
June 25, 1950- The Korean War begins. It was a war between the Republic of Korea(South Korea). It was supported by the United Nations. They were against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(North Korea). It was the result of the political division of Korea by an agreement of allies at the conclusion of The Pacific War at The end of World War II. After the end of WW2, Korea was divided by the US to the south and Russia/China to the North. It all started when troops from the North invaded the South. The UN asked the United States and the token forces from other countries to assist the South.
Event 2
November 1,1950- The second fail attempt to assassinate President President Harry S. Truman. It was conducted by two Puerto Rican pro-independence activists. Oscar Collazo and Griselio Torresola. It was taken where the president was resided at the Blair House. Torresola would wound an officer but would be killed by the same guy. The good news was President Truman was not harmed.
Event 4
February 27, 1951 -This was when The 22nd Amendment was added to the United States Constitution. This was when congress passed it. It was to set a term limit for election to the office . Its to say that no president should be in elected into office more than twice. It was ratified by the requisite number of states on February 27, 1951. This is in response of Franklin D. Roosevelt's four presidential terms. Thomas E. Dewey said "four terms or sixteen years is the most dangerous threat to our freedom ever proposed."
Event 3
October 10, 1951-This was when the Mutual Security Act was signed by president Harry S. Truman. It provided nearly 7.5 billion dollars, about 68 billion dollars today for foreign military, economic and technical aid to U.S. allies. The legislation created the Mutual Security Agency. It was charged with supervising all foreign aid programs with the aim of bolstering the defense capabilities of U.S. allies around the world. It replaced the Marshall Plan, which was created in the aftermath of World War II to spur the recovery of Western Europe that was damaged during the war. Truman submitted the mutual security legislation on May 24, in the second year of the Korean War.
Event 5
January 20, 1953- Dwight D. Eisenhower is elected president. He was the 34th president of the United States. He was the only general to serve as President in the 20th century. He is the most recent President to have never held elected office prior to the Presidency. He was a five star general during World War II. He is still ranked highly among presidents.
Event 6
December 1, 1955- The Montgomery Bus Boycott. Rosa Parks( an African American ) was arrested for refusing to surrender her seat to a white person. It was called the Montgomery Bus Boycott. It was a semi event in the U.S Civil Rights Movement. The scene was a Caucasian male walked on to the bus and the bus driver told her to get out of her seat for the man to sit. Knowing the row was for African Americans' she refused. For not following the bus driver's instructions she was fined $10 plus a court cost of $4.
In the Video it talks about event 5. The Montgomery Bus Boycott. It shows Rosa Parks talking about it. It says how the Blacks sat at the back and middle seats. If a white man had to come on the bus with no available seats a black would have to give up their seat. On December 1, 1955 Parks would not give up her seat. It was her first arrest.
Fun Fact! Event 7.
July 17,1955- Made by the famous Walt Disney. This was when Disneyland first opened. It is the first Theme Park designed and Supervised by The Walt Disney. He came up with the concept of Disneyland after visiting various amusement parks with his daughters. It was built in Anaheim, California. Construction Began in 1954 and the park was unveiled during a special televised press event on the ABC Television Network on July 17,1955.
